Does taxidermy use real animals?
Taxidermy is a way of preparing, stuffing and/or mounting an animal for display or study. It usually involves arranging an animal's real skin over a fake body to make the animal look alive! It is a way of preserving the body so that scientists or Museum visitors can see what the animal was like when it was alive.
Can old taxidermy be restored?
We provide restoration, repair and cleaning services of your taxidermy mounts. We can clean a single mount or a whole collection of mounts. We do general maintenance cleaning and complete restoration of damaged mounts. We can take a very old mount and restore it to look like new.
How long does it take to taxidermy a deer?
Eight to 12 months start to finish for a super-looking mount is reasonable. If you can get your deer back in six months or sooner, great, so long as the quality doesn't suffer. It did take two years to get my best buck ever, a 209-inch-gross Canadian giant, back from the taxidermist.
